A Look Into Japanese Bakeries

A bakery not only means a place in which all different kinds of desserts are bought, but also anything that is literally baked in an oven including bread. People usually think that rice and noodles are the only items in Japanese diet. However, it may be astonishing to know that bread is an immensely prominent part of it as well. Japan’s main source of food was bread post war, the time where rice was scarce and nearly unavailable.  Nowadays, bread has become very popular in Japanese diet that people consume it couple of times in a day even during breakfast.

Japan bakeries are found all over Japan, near train stations, in department stores, and along the streets. Most breads bought from any Japanese bakery cost from 150-350 yen, which is considered to be inexpensive and cheap.

Japanese bakery items consist of incalculable amounts of delicious fillings and flavors based on seasons, including sweet potato, edamame, corn, sweetened red beans and much more.

There are numerously many popular food items that are bought in Japanese bakeries. Firstly, the yakisoba pan which combines both soft bread and yakisoba noodles. The yakisoba pan can only be found in Japanese bakeries. Secondly, the Melonpan which is a sweet roll flavored with melon extract and actually looking like a cantaloupe, a type of melon. Thirdly, Anpan which is another sweet roll infused with sweetened red bean paste. Anpan has stolen the hearts of Japanese people since it’s the first bread roll made with a kind of flavor that is true to the Japanese tastes. Fourthly, Mentaiko Furansu Pan which is a twist on the French baguette. Before baking, the Japanese bakers add cod caviar in the bread. Fifthly, a Cornet which is a sweet roll that has the shape of a cone and filled completely with delicious whipped cream. Sixthly, Shu Kurima which is also a twist of a classic French dessert, cream puffs.

At last but not least, a baked good that is not bread, yet it is the most popular and scrumptious, the Japanese Cheesecake that is also well-known and greatly admired in the middle east.

Sales of baked items was raised by 1% in 2014 and reached 2.2 trillion Yen. The growth in bread, and the increasing popularity of the baked goods among Japanese citizens lead to the ideal growth of baked items. The Japanese bakeries have an important role in the economy of Japan since it is increasing the RGDP immensely from the inestimable consumers that are buying from them.
